Current List of Chief Ministers & Governors of all states

The Chief Minister of state is the real executive authority (de facto executive) in that particular state. India is a “Union of State”. Article 164 of the Constitution says that the Chief Minister shall be appointed by the governor.

The Governors and Lieutenant governors are appointed by the President of India. The Governors and Lieutenant governors are executive heads of the states and the union territories respectively. There are 28 states and 9 union territories in India.
